Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

Plain-language summary: there are no accounts, no logins, and no passwords on Got Jam?. We don't know who you are. We do keep the report text you submit (indefinitely, for score history) and standard Google Analytics/AdSense data. We never store your raw IP address — only a one-way hash, kept for two minutes, to stop spam.

Jam reports you submit. When you tap "Report jam," we store the checkpoint, direction, severity, transport mode, and any free-text description you write. This is never tied to a name, email, or account — because there isn't one. It's kept indefinitely in our database so we can measure and improve the score over time, even though it only appears in the public "Latest reports" list for about 3 hours before fading out of the live score.

A one-way hash of your IP, briefly. To stop spam, we run your connecting IP address (read from Cloudflare's connection headers) through a salted one-way hash and store only that hash for about 2 minutes, then it auto-expires. We never see, log, or retain your actual IP address anywhere.

Google Analytics (GA4). We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which features get used (checkpoint switches, refreshes, report taps, shares). This uses cookies and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Google AdSense. Got Jam? is in the process of enabling Google AdSense ads. Once live, Google may set cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads unless you opt out. See Google Ads Settings to control ad personalization, and how Google uses data from partner sites.

Public community content. We read public posts from specific Telegram and Facebook traffic groups (listed on our Sources & credits page) and score them the same way we score your own reports. This is public content from those communities, not something we collect about you as a Got Jam? visitor.

  • No accounts, logins, or passwords to create or leak.
  • We never store your raw IP address — only the short-lived hash described above.
  • We don't sell or share your report text with anyone outside operating the score itself.
  • We don't track you across other websites beyond what Google Analytics/AdSense do on their own, per their policies linked above.
  • Cloudflare — hosts the site and the scoring backend (Workers, KV, D1).
  • Google Analytics & AdSense — see above.
  • Ko-fi — the "Buy me a kopi" tip button links to ko-fi.com, an external site with its own privacy policy; we don't see anything about your Ko-fi visit or payment.
  • Waze — the live traffic map is an embedded Waze iframe; Waze's own privacy policy applies to that embed.
  • IP hash (rate limiting): ~2 minutes, then auto-deleted.
  • Live "Latest reports" visibility: fades out of the score over ~3 hours.
  • Report/post text (research archive): kept indefinitely in a private database, used only to measure and improve the score over time — never re-published beyond the ~3-hour window above, and never linked back to a name or IP.

Don't include anything in a report's free-text field that you wouldn't want kept indefinitely — there's no way to delete an individual submission after the fact since it isn't tied to any identity we could verify a deletion request against.

You can opt out of personalized ads any time via Google Ads Settings, and block cookies/analytics using your browser's own privacy controls.

Got Jam? isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect anything from them beyond the same anonymous report/analytics data described above.

This policy may change as the product changes (for example, once AdSense fully goes live). Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date below.
